FAQs
1. Can I customize the Luna Road Lights to suit my needs?

Yes! The Luna Road Lights can be customized to suit your very needs! You have a choice of different colored LED lights (red, blue, green, yellow and white) to be exact. The Luna Road Lights are also available in steady and flashing light modes, with a choice of single or bi-directional Luna Road Lights (depending on traffic movement – one way vs. two way roads). You can also customize the Luna Road Lights to be produced with both LED Lights and reflective surfaces, to have dual protection for night time road safety. We at Luna Road also offer you the ability to determine the quantity of LED Lights on each Luna Road Light. You also have the ability to alter the light intensity and brightness of each Luna Road Light based upon your exact specifications!

In providing you with the highest level of customizability, you are able to request different body materials from plastic, polycarbonate, to aluminum alloy shells.

Most importantly, you have direct control as to the battery type in each Luna Road Light! You can choose between a Ni-Mh Battery (with an average life of around 4 years) to a Super Golden Capacitor (which provides an average life of around 13-15 years).

2. During the long rainy seasons with heavy overcast conditions, will the Luna Road Lights continue to operate with limited availability of direct sunlight?

Luna Road Lights are equipped with super-highly efficient solar panels. Since the required power consumption is relatively small, direct sunlight is not needed in order for the Luna Road Lights to receive the necessary charge to illuminate during the night time. The solar panels will absorb the ambient “photonic” light in the atmosphere, which means that during days that are overcast with heavy clouds, the Luna Road Lights will continue to work normally.

One major problem however that can cause a reduction in the efficient operation of the lights would be flooding due to constant heavy rainfall periods and poor road design and drainage systems. Constant flooding on roads that are poorly designed with inadequate drainage systems, may continually cover and block the Luna Road Lights, and prevent the efficient and effective charging duration of the unit, which may therefore reduce its overall nighttime performance.

3. What is the maximum weight that the Luna Road Lights can withstand? Is it strong enough for heavy machinery?

The Luna Road Lights can withstand a minimum of 20 tons per tire! That means that a vehicle has to have a total minimum weight of 80 tons! The Luna Road Lights are engineered to withstand the heaviest of vehicles and machinery!

4. Could the transparent solar panel on the Luna Road Light outlast the punishment on the roads?

The solar panel cover has been tested by laboratories for its durability, toughness and non-abrasiveness, passing all assigned tests. Most importantly, it has been road tested in actual installations and found to be very durable and unbreakable and non-abrasive.

5. How long is the lifetime of the LED "bulb"?

With LED illumination, there is no "bulb" to burn out, since it contains a transistor-like diode that emits light beams when supplied with a very small amount of electrical current. Thus, the LED "bulb" is virtually burn-out free during its lifetime. The LED lights usually last for around 100,000 hours; which works out to roughly 22 years life span (calculating around 12 hours of darkness per day).

6. Does the Luna Road Light require any maintenance while installed on the road?

Aside from normal pressured air cleaning of reflective surfaces, and the panel cover to clean off dust and stains (around once every year), the Luna Road Lights requires no service maintenance. The Luna Road Lights are hermetically sealed and do not contain any serviceable parts.

7. If the LED light fails to operate for some reason, is the public safety compromised in any way?

Luna Road Lights features the "dual mode illumination" for its fail-safe functional reliability. The Luna Road Light features the reflective panel that has been equally tested to be as functional as the conventional reflective road marker, if for some reason the LED light is disabled. Therefore, if the unit malfunctions and fails to illuminate, the road visibility is essentially equal and no less than prior installations of the conventional retro-reflective road markers. In other words, there is no compromise for road safety in the event that a unit malfunctions.

8. Can the Luna Road Lights withstand a winter's (or multiple winters') worth of wear-and-tear from a snowplow?

Only the LR-200 and LR-400 Luna Road Light Series would be able to withstand a snowplow during the winter. The reason being is that the LR-200 and LR-400 Luna Road Light series can be installed flushed-recessed in the foundation of the road, allowing the snowplow to pass over the lights without damaging the module.

The LR-200 and LR-400 uses holographic technology to redirect the LEDs which are actually located around 1 inch below the surface of the road inside the Luna Road Light unit; therefore, allowing the recessed installation to yield the proper road illumination.

For harsh winter periods, the Luna Road Lights can be customized with increased battery capacity to store enough energy to last during the dark conditions, and the LUX levels can be adjusted so that the LEDs are activated during specific lighting conditions only.
